Booking choice: The Signature Hummer Tour, from $139 per person. Check dates Tour details
Search for a Grand Canyon tour and you will see Las Vegas, the West Rim, the Skywalk, the South Rim and Tusayan all mixed together. They are not interchangeable.
This guide sorts out where the Hummer tour really is, how far that is from the places people start, and how to plan around it.
The quick answer
The Signature Hummer Tour runs on the South Rim, inside Grand Canyon National Park, from a terminal in Tusayan 1 mile south of the entrance. It has no pickup from Las Vegas (about 5 hours away), Flagstaff or Sedona. Grand Canyon West, home of the Skywalk, is a different place run by the Hualapai Tribe, about 250 miles by road from the South Rim.
Which rim is the Hummer tour on?
The South Rim: it starts in Tusayan, 1 mile from the park's South Entrance, and stops at viewpoints inside Grand Canyon National Park.
The operator stresses that its terminal is in Tusayan, not inside the park, so if you are driving in, stop in town before the entrance gate.

Check dates for the Signature Hummer TourCan you do the Hummer tour as a day trip from Las Vegas?
Not with pickup: the listing says it does not pick up in Las Vegas, which it puts about 5 hours away.
That is roughly ten hours of driving for a 2.5-hour tour. If you are coming from Las Vegas, plan to stay at least one night near the South Rim, in Tusayan or inside the park, where the tour offers hotel pickup.
What is the West Rim, and is it the same place?
No. Grand Canyon West, with the Skywalk, is run by the Hualapai Tribe at the far western end of the canyon, about 250 miles by road and a five-hour drive from the South Rim.
The National Park Service notes that Grand Canyon West is outside its jurisdiction. Check which rim any Las Vegas day trip visits; the Hummer tours on this site run on the South Rim.

How far is the South Rim from Flagstaff and Williams?
About 80 miles from Flagstaff and 60 miles from Williams, according to the National Park Service.
Those are the park's own figures. The Hummer tour does not pick up in Flagstaff or Sedona, so drive to Tusayan and check in at the terminal 30 minutes before the start time. The operator also sells a version that pairs the Hummer tour with the Grand Canyon Railway, which runs from Williams.
Where should you stay for an easy pickup?
In Tusayan or at a lodge or campground inside the park on the South Rim: the tour picks up from listed hotels in both.
One guest was picked up right at their campsite. In-park pickups can run from the start time to 15 or 20 minutes after it, because guests checking in at the terminal are loaded first.

Is the South Rim open all year?
Yes: the South Rim is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and the Hummer is enclosed in the colder months.
Winter brings snow to the rim, 50 to over 100 inches a year on average, so pack warm clothes from late autumn to spring. The North Rim is a different story: its lodging and services usually run only from May 15 to October 15.

Can you see the North Rim on a tour from the South Rim?
From the air: the helicopter listing names the North and East rims among the sights.

Arrive the day before or early in the day, take the tour when you get there for orientation, and explore on your own afterwards.
Several guests booked the Hummer tour precisely because they had only a short time at the canyon. With more days, the full-day tour from Tusayan or a self-drive along Desert View Drive covers more ground.
