Buck Wild Hummer Tours · Tusayan

The Signature Hummer Tour from Tusayan

A guide drives you to three or four South Rim viewpoints in a 13-seat Hummer with stadium-style seats, and you get out at each one. Pick it when you have a few hours, no wish to fight for parking, and want someone to explain what you're looking at.

Signature Hummer Tour, Optional Sunset

About this experience

Buck Wild Hummer Tours is a family-owned company with its terminal at 469 Arizona 64 in Tusayan, the small town a mile south of the park's South Entrance. The Signature Tour runs about 2.5 hours. You ride in a Hummer built for sightseeing, with raised stadium-style rows so the back seats see as much as the front, open-air in the warm months and enclosed when it's cold. The guide picks 3 or 4 stops from a list that, per Buck Wild's own tour page, includes Yavapai Point and the Geology Museum, Pipe Creek Vista, Duck on a Rock, Grandview, Mather and Moran points.

Read this before you book: it is not an off-road tour. Buck Wild states that the route uses paved, public roads because no off-road travel is permitted in the national park. Guests who expected dirt tracks say so in their reviews, and one September 2026 guest felt she had already seen the stops on her drive in. What you pay for is the guide and the logistics: stories, geology, history, wildlife spotting, and no parking hunt at Mather Point.

Two money points. The Viator from-price is $139 per person, a little above Buck Wild's direct day fare of $129, and both cancel free up to 24 hours before. And non-U.S. residents aged 16 and older pay the park's $100 nonresident fee on top, unless they carry the $250 non-resident America the Beautiful pass (NPS fees page). Our price guide does the full sum.

What guests say

★★★★★

There were many excellent views of the Grand Canyon. Our guide, Jerry Lefthand, was extremely knowledgeable about the Canyon and history and customs of Native Americans that live in the area. He shared many stories and even taught us some Navajo words. Very enjoyable!

Tips before you book

  • Book the sunset departure for the light, the 9:30 a.m. one if you want the afternoon free.
  • Children under 8, or under 4 ft 9 in, need a car or booster seat under Arizona law, per Buck Wild. Request one when you book.
  • In-park lodges stopped overnight stays on 31 August 2026 because of water restrictions (NPS release). Stay in Tusayan and use the hotel pickup.
  • Afternoon storms in July, August and early September can cut stops. A September 2026 guest got two of the four planned stops because of the weather.
  • Bring cash or a card for the tip: gratuities are not in the price.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Signature Hummer Tour go off-road?

No. Buck Wild says the route uses paved, public roads, and no off-road travel is permitted in Grand Canyon National Park. The Hummer is about the seating and the view, not the terrain. Our off-road guide explains the difference with the safari tours.

How long is the Grand Canyon Hummer tour?

About 2.5 hours for the day tour and about 3 hours for the sunset version. Check in 30 minutes before your start time at the terminal in Tusayan.

Is the park entrance fee included?

For U.S. residents, yes: Buck Wild covers park entry with valid photo ID. Non-U.S. residents aged 16 and older pay the $100 nonresident fee unless they hold the $250 non-resident America the Beautiful pass.

Can I join the Hummer tour from Las Vegas?

No. The tour starts in Tusayan, and the operator does not pick up in Las Vegas, which is about 5 hours away. Grand Canyon West, with the Skywalk, is a different place; see South Rim vs West Rim.
